JOSH Corner will stand in for the injured Cody Nally in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship for MWR Motorsports at Brands Hatch this weekend.
The South Shields teenager will make his 1000cc debut at the Kent circuit this weekend after being left without a full time ride this season. He received the call up to ride this weekend after regular MWR Motorsports rider Nally was sidelined after a crash in the opening round at Donington Park.
“I am over the moon to have been given this opportunity to ride the MWR Motorsports bike at Brands Hatch. I am sorry to see Cody is out and I wish him a speedy recovery,” he said.
“I’m very much looking forward to riding the bike at Brands and make my debut in the class. We have a test planned for early next week and I can’t wait to get out there.
“I just want to say a massive thank you to Mark and the whole MWR team for giving me this opportunity and my personal sponsor Phil Morria of tec4 Lubricants for making the weekend possible.”
MWR Motorsports Team Principal Mark Webster added: “It’s never a good thing to have to bring in another rider to deputise for an injured one, but I am delighted to be able to give Josh a run out on our stock 1000 bike until Cody is ready to come back.
“I’ve followed Josh for a while now and it’s a shame his deal fell through with another team earlier this year. There’s no pressure whatsoever on him to go out and set the world on fire, but I know he will want to show everyone what a talented rider he is.
“At the moment it’s just for Brands Hatch, but could see him start at the Oulton Park round should Cody still not be fit. We will be giving him a quick run out this week which will enable us to arrive at Brands ready to go.”
